Comparative study of graph energies

I. Gutman

Faculty of Science, University of Kragujevac, P. O. Box 60, 34000 Kragujevac, Serbia

Abstract: The ordinary energy of the graph is defined as the sum of the absolute values of the eigenvalues of its adjacency matrix. In recent times analogous ôenergiesö are being considered, based on the eigenvalues of a variety of other graph matrices. We briefly survey and comment this ôenergy delugeö, and then show that some of the results obtained (one-by-one) for different graph energies, are special cases of a single general result, that is independent of any graphûtheoretical interpretation.

Keywords: energy (of graph), energies (of graphs), energy deluge, adjacency matrix, graph matrices
