The journal was established in the latter
half of 1999 by the Victoria University members of the Research Group in Mathematical Inequalities and Applications
(RGMIA). Encouraged by the phenomenal success of the RGMIA, the
VU members were convinced that a journal like JIPAM could succeed and indeed flourish.
A few noteworthy points are the following:
- The first call for papers was in September, 1999 and in (less than) seven months,
the first lot of manuscripts were received, refereed, typeset and
published.
- The editorial board was initially comprised of 56 internationally recognized researchers - many of which are world leaders in the their field.
This number has now expanded to 71.
- To encourage submission of manuscripts of the highest quality, JIPAM
offered an annual prize to the best article in its first 2
years. For more details please visit http://jipam-old.vu.edu.au/prize.html
The original version of the JIPAM website has been preserved at: http://jipam-old.vu.edu.au.
