The Journal was founded in 1931 by O. Neugebauer and is today the number one abstracting and reviewing service in the field. It covers the entire spectrum of mathematics with special emphasis on areas of application for the whole period.
Citations are classified according to the Mathematics Subject Classification (Current is MSC2000). It contains reference to the worldwide literature drawn from more than 3,500 journals and 1,100 serials (see Serials and Journals database), from conference proceedings, books, reports, and theses published in any format (print, electronic). Zentralblatt MATH publishes about 60,000 items per year written by more than 10,000 scientists; the reviews are mainly written in English.
